BALLYMENA BID is on a high after winning free bus advertising worth £25,000 thanks to a competition launched by Exterion Media through its corporate partnership of Business in the Community’s (BITC) Healthy High Streets Programme.
The bus advertising, which will complement the BID’s current marketing strategy for the town, means that local high street retailers and businesses will be able to reach a wider audience and encourage more visitors to come to Ballymena and experience all it has to offer.
Ballymena town centre is very much open for business with 14 new stores being opened in the last 12 months alone and, in addition to the town’s great selection of eateries, the extremely popular annual discount day.
Ballymena BID Manager, Alison Moore said; “We are delighted to have won this competition. Ballymena BID will use the free bus advertising to promote the town’s hugely successful and highly anticipated annual discount day which takes place on Thursday, 3rd November 2016. By utilising bus advertising on routes throughout Coleraine to Larne, the town and local businesses will hopefully reap the benefits.
“Local retailers, including the unique mix of high end independent retailers coupled with the two extremely popular and well known shopping centres, experienced an increase of 39% footfall on the actual day last year in comparison to the year before and we expect that this year’s event will be even bigger and better supported given the targeted promotion generated from the bus advertising.”
Ballymena BID was implemented in Ballymena Town Centre following a resounding successful vote by Ballymena town centre businesses whereby the business-led initiative allows member businesses to directly control the projects implemented in their town. Its aim is to encourage growth, development and investment in local businesses.
Jane Prichard, Enterprise & Culture Director at Business in the Community said; “We launched the Healthy High Streets programme in 2014 to help revitalise town centres. Working with the support of high street brands Boots UK, Marks & Spencer, Santander, EE, Greggs, Wilko and Exterion Media, our aim to increase footfall, decrease empty shops and support job creation in over 100 towns throughout the UK over a three year period. It is great that Ballymena will be the recipient of the programme’s help especially in the form of the free bus advertising.”
Supported by Exterion Media, the free bus advertising campaign gives Ballymena BID the opportunity to promote and celebrate Ballymena high street and all that it has to offer to the local community in and around Ballymena. Bus advertising provides the opportunity to engage with potential audiences as they work, shop and play across our towns and high streets.
