What’s your favourite street in Ballymena and why?

My favourite street would have to be Greenvale Street! I love that it is pedestrianised and that it is the walk way between both centres!

What does Ballymena mean to you?

Growing up in Broughshane I was always “up the town” after school and every Saturday.  It was the thing to do with my friends.  The leisure Centre, the Sportbowl, the State Cinema and the Tower Centre is where I spent my pocket money and most of my teens!

I have so many fond memories of hanging out in Ken’s Burger Bar, shopping In Gear on wellington street and Stars n Stripes in Greenvale street..  there was definitely a special feel to the town with all the small independent retailers back then.  Although it’s great to see over the past few years the town is starting to come alive again… especially Wellington street with Milddletown, Wallace’s, Benetton and Chocoa chocolate relocating to the beautifully restored old bank building!

All in all, Ballymena means great memories for me and hopefully more to come with all of the new developments and future plans!

Thank you for speaking to us today Leslie! You can follow the team at Houston Hair on Facebook and Instagram, shoustonhair on Snapchat or check out their website here.
