On Saturday, 17th August, Ballymena’s Greenvale Street was the vibrant heart of a grand celebration as thousands of attendees gathered to enjoy a day filled with fun, wellness, and community spirit. The event, organised by Ballymena BID and kindly supported by Mid and East Antrim Borough Council and the Department for Communities, marked a spectacular end to the summer season.
From early morning Yoga and Fitness classes to an afternoon brimming with excitement, the day offered something for everyone, making it a perfect family day out. The theme of the event focused on fun and wellness, and it certainly delivered on both fronts.
Morning Activities: Yoga & Fitness Classes
The day began with refreshing Yoga and Fitness classes from 8am to 9:30am. Held on Greenvale Street, these sessions attracted fitness enthusiasts of all levels, eager to start their day with physical and mental rejuvenation. Under the guidance of expert local instructors, participants embraced the morning calm and energised their bodies, setting a positive tone for the day.
Afternoon Extravaganza: Fun and Entertainment for All Ages
From noon until 3pm, the atmosphere on Greenvale Street was alive with laughter and joy as families participated in a variety of activities. Special guests, including Sonic, Stitch, Captain America, and Ariel the Little Mermaid, delighted children and fans alike, creating magical moments throughout the day.
Amusement rides and activities kept the younger attendees entertained, while competitions and games offered chances to win fantastic prizes, adding to the day’s excitement. Creative spirits were also nurtured with face painting, balloon modelling.
Adding to the atmosphere was the Downtown Radio Roadshow, providing vibrant tunes, games and amazing giveaways from our town centre businesses that perfectly complemented the event’s lively spirit.

The event was a testament to the strong community ties in Ballymena, offering a space for residents and visitors to come together, celebrate the end of summer, and promote well-being. Families and friends from near and far made the most of this opportunity to create lasting memories, making it a day to remember.
